Boasting a population of 66,297, St. Cloud is Minnesota’s eighth largest city. It spans across the Stearns, Benton and Sherburne counties, and is located 65 miles outside of the Twin Cities. St. Cloud was incorporated as a city in 1856.
The government of St. Cloud is a mayor-council structure. The Mayor serves as chief executive officer, and is assisted by an appointed City Administrator. The City Council is made up of seven members, each elected to four-year terms. St. Cloud’s City Chambers are located within City Hall at 400 Second St. S, and regular meetings are held every other Monday at 6 p.m.
St. Cloud State University is Minnesota’s fourth largest college, where 16,245 students enrolled for the fall semester of 2013. The Minnesota Correctional Facility – St. Cloud serves as the intake facility for Minnesota’s Department of Corrections, and currently houses around 1,000 inmates. Following court sentencing, offenders are sent here for processing. The facility’s address is 2305 Minnesota Boulevard S.E.
